Weekend Review for Week Ending 9th February

FAI Youths Cup
The only game of the weekend saw Nenagh AFC Youths travel to Thurles to play Peake Villa in the FAI Youths Cup with the visiting side recording a comprehensive three nil victory over the TSDL outfit. The hosts had wind advantage in the opening half but failed to break down a resolute Nenagh rearguard and indeed it was the Brickfields side which came closest with a Ciaran O’Reilly free kick but the Peake Villa custodian was equal to the effort making a superb save in the process. The NT&DL team upped the ante in the second period and opened their account when Ryan Gilmartin’s effort was parried to Cian Darcy who knocked the ball to the net from close range. The Blues doubled their advantage when a fine move initiated by Dylan Kennedy was finished by Ben Banaghan who lobbed the keeper from distance. Peake Villa didn’t throw in the towel but were unable to get back in to the game and then Ryan Gilmartin wrapped it up for the Nenagh AFC with a cool finish from ten yards to set up a place in the last sixteen.

All other NT&DL games were called off due to the inclement weather conditions.
